PGT Energy-Efficient Windows in Miami: What to Know First

We install, service, and repair PGT energy-efficient windows across Miami, and most jobs are quoted within 24 hours with installation typically scheduled inside two weeks. As an independent PGT service provider, we give you an honest price upfront: a standard PGT energy-efficient replacement window in Miami runs $700 to $1,900 installed depending on size, glass package, and whether the frame needs full replacement or a retrofit. If you’re a homeowner with PGT windows that are fogging, leaking air, or just not keeping the AC bill where it should be, this page is for you. Call (863) 946-5039 and a live person picks up. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what it costs to fix, and whether you actually need new glass or a whole new unit.

How PGT Products Fail, and How We Fix Them

PGT builds a strong window. We’ve installed and serviced enough of them in Miami to know exactly where they wear down first. Here are the failure modes we see most often on energy-efficient PGT units in this climate:

  • Seal failure on PGT WinGuard vinyl single-hung units. Miami’s heat plus daily UV exposure breaks down the spacer seal over time. You’ll see fog between the panes or a milky film that won’t wipe off. The insulated glass unit (IGU) has lost its argon fill, and the window’s U-value climbs with it. We replace the IGU with a matching Low-E, argon-filled unit that keeps the frame intact.
  • Warped sashes on PGT SpectraGuard aluminum frames. Aluminum conducts heat, and after a decade of Miami summers, the sash can flex enough that the weatherstripping no longer compresses evenly. You feel the draft at the meeting rail. We re-square the sash, replace the weatherstripping, and if the frame is too far gone, we’ll quote a SpectraGuard to WinGuard upgrade rather than band-aid it.
  • Condensation inside PGT EnergyVue casement windows. This is almost always a failed breather tube or clogged weep system, not the glass. Water pools at the sill, the frame stays damp, and mold starts on the interior track. We clear the weeps, replace the breather, and reseal the glazing bead so the window drains and breathes the way PGT designed it to.
  • Faded interiors and hot glass on older PGT clear-glass units. No Low-E coating means the UV is coming straight through. We see furniture, flooring, and woodwork within six feet of the window bleached out. The fix is a glass package upgrade to PGT’s SolarGreen or equivalent Low-E laminated glass, which cuts UV transmission to under 1 percent while keeping the impact rating intact.
  • Failed glazing tape on PGT 5500 series picture windows. The tape breaks down after years of thermal cycling, and you’ll hear a faint whistle at the glass edge when the wind picks up. The glass itself is usually fine. We pull the stop, replace the tape with a heavy-duty structural grade, and reset the glass. That window is tight again in about an hour.

Our PGT Energy-Efficient Windows Process

Every PGT job follows the same path, whether it’s a single fogged sash or a full home of replacements:

  1. 1
Call and diagnosis. You call (863) 946-5039. We talk through what you’re seeing: fog, drafts, hot glass, condensation. We’ll ask about the PGT model if you know it. If we need to see it in person, we schedule a visit with no trip charge inside our home county.
  2. 2
On-site inspection. A background-checked, uniformed tech comes out, checks the glass, frame, weatherstripping, and weeps. We measure the unit accurately, because PGT sizes don’t always match the rough opening on older installs.
  3. 3
Parts decision. For IGUs, we use glass that matches or exceeds the original PGT spec: Low-E, argon-filled, properly tempered or laminated where the code requires it. For hardware and seals, we use PGT-sourced parts where the warranty matters and durable aftermarket where OEM isn’t the best value. We’ll tell you which is which and why.
  4. 4
The work. We remove the old unit or glass, prep the opening, install, shim, seal, and trim. Dust control and floor protection on every job. The crew cleans up before they leave.
  5. 5
Test and walk-through. We check the seal with a moisture meter, run the sash through its full travel, and check for air movement at the frame. Then we walk you through the work, show you what we did, and hand you the written line-item detail. Every job carries the 36500-Day Done Right Promise.

What PGT Energy-Efficient Windows Cost in Miami

Real numbers, not vague ranges. Here’s what we see in Miami for PGT energy-efficient work:

  • IGU replacement only (glass stays flat, frame is sound): $340 to $680 per window
  • Full PGT WinGuard single-hung replacement, standard size, Low-E argon glass: $750 to $1,300 installed
  • PGT SpectraGuard aluminum unit with Low-E laminated glass: $900 to $1,700 depending on size and hurricane-zone requirements
  • Custom or oversized PGT units (picture windows, special shapes): $1,400 to $2,800
  • Whole-home PGT energy package, 8-12 windows: $7,500 to $16,000

What moves the price: glass package (clear is cheapest, laminated Low-E adds cost), frame material, access (second story, scaffolding), and whether we’re doing a pocket replacement or a full tear-out with new flashing. We give you a written, line-item quote before any work starts, and that price does not change once we’re on the job. Call (863) 946-5039 for a free estimate.

Why Miami Homeowners Call Winslow Windows & Doors for PGT Work

Ed Winslow grew up in Hialeah watching summer storms roll off the Everglades, and he learned early that a bad window wasn’t just an eyesore: it was a liability. We’ve been installing and servicing PGT products since 2011, and we’re one of the few crews in Miami that can honestly say we work on all eight of the major South Florida brands: PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows, ECO Window Systems, Mr-Glass, Therma-Tru, and ViewLux. That matters when you’re deciding between a PGT repair and a CGI replacement. We’ll give you the straight comparison, not a sales pitch. Every job carries the 36500-Day Done Right Promise, every tech is background-checked and uniformed, and a live person answers the phone 24/7. You call, we answer, we show up, we stand behind the work. That’s the whole business model.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."
