Why Miami Homeowners Choose PGT Windows & Doors
We provide independent Miami Pgt service across the city, from Hialeah to Kendall to Brickell, with technicians who work on WinGuard aluminum and vinyl impact lines, SpectraGuard, and PremierVue every week. Our PGT work is warranty-safe, uses OEM parts for structural and life-safety repairs, and comes with the 36500-Day Done Right Promise. We’re not a PGT dealer or factory-authorized affiliate, which means we’ll tell you the truth about what your window needs, even when the answer is a better aftermarket hinge instead of a markup-heavy replacement. Call (863) 946-5039 for a no trip charge service visit inside Miami-Dade County.
Miami-Dade County enforces the strictest hurricane-impact window and door codes in the nation. Every replacement unit has to carry a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance, a certification stricter than the standard Florida Product Approval used up in Broward or Palm Beach. PGT built its Florida reputation on meeting those standards, and we see their products in more Miami homes than any other impact brand. Salt air off Biscayne Bay, year-round humidity above 70%, and intense UV degrade frames and seals faster here than anywhere inland. A PGT window in Miami is a serious investment, and it deserves service from people who understand what this climate does to Impact Windows like these.
Why Trust Winslow Windows & Doors for Your PGT Windows & Doors?
Ed Winslow grew up in Pgt service in Hialeah, where summer storms rolling off the Everglades taught him early that a bad window was not an eyesore, it was a liability. He learned glazing and construction fundamentals through the building trades program at Miami Dade College, then spent years running installations across Miami-Dade before hanging his own name on a truck. Today Ed’s the guy neighbors call when a hurricane forecast hits the news and they realize their old aluminum frames will not pass an insurance inspection. “My name is on the door, literally. That’s all the guarantee you should need.”
Our technicians see the exact PGT lines marketed to Miami homeowners, and they know the corrosion, gasket, and hardware issues Miami’s salt air and heat cycles bring. We know which WinGuard vinyl sashes warp in prolonged afternoon sun, which roller assemblies lose their bearings after years of salt exposure, and when a fuzzy weatherstrip can be replaced versus when the whole sash needs to come out. We use OEM PGT parts wherever a failure is structural or life-safety related, and we will tell you plainly when a better corrosion-resistant aftermarket part is the smarter call. Background-checked, uniformed technicians on every job. Upfront pricing. No surprises on the invoice. Ed’s name is on the door, and on every job we do.
Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Fix in Miami
- Matted or torn fuzzy weatherstripping on WinGuard horizontal rollers. The wool-pile weatherstrip along the meeting rail on older WinGuard aluminum and vinyl horizontals mats down or tears after years of sliding against salt-laden air. Air whistles through, the DP rating drops, and your A/C works harder than it should. We replace it with new PGT fuzzy weatherstrip and realign the track so the panel seats flush again.
- Warped vinyl sashes on SpectraGuard and WinGuard Vinyl. Bottom corners of vinyl sashes, especially on west-facing elevations, warp after prolonged afternoon sun exposure in Miami’s heat. The sash bows, rubs the track, and eventually will not close flush. If the warping is caught early, we can sometimes correct it with hardware adjustments. If the sash profile is permanently distorted, the honest answer is replacement, and we will show you exactly why.
- Roller assemblies on 3-lite sliders losing their bearings. The stainless roller axles on PGT 3-lite sliders corrode in coastal Miami air, the bearings seize or disintegrate, and the 200-pound panel starts dragging or jumping the track. We pull the sash, replace both rollers with OEM stainless assemblies, and reset the panel so it glides with two fingers again.
- Tamper-resistant screws on casement hinge arms stripping. PGT casement windows use tamper-resistant screws on the hinge arms to prevent forced entry. After years of heat cycling, those screws seize or the heads strip, leaving the sash loose or impossible to close flush. We extract them carefully and replace the hinge arms without damaging the frame.
- Condensation or fogging between impact glass panes. If you see fog you cannot wipe away, the seal on your insulated glass pack has failed, and the desiccant is saturated. That is a glass pack replacement, not a repair. We handle it as a warranty-safe service using OEM PGT glass packs wherever the unit is still in production, and we will tell you upfront what your options are.
PGT Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach
We use OEM PGT parts whenever a failure is structural or life-safety related: rollers, locks, glass packs, hinges. A roller assembly that fails on a 200-pound impact sash is not the place to save thirty bucks on an aftermarket imitation. But some PGT originals are known weak points, and there are better aftermarket options available. A corrosion-resistant stainless hinge on a coastal Miami casement window can outlast the original by years. We will always tell you which we recommend and why.
If the frame is sound and the glass is intact, we repair. If the sash is warped or the seal is compromised, we replace the unit and tell you exactly why, with pictures and a line-item quote before any work starts. We stock common PGT parts locally for fast turnaround on the jobs Miami homeowners call about most. Call (863) 946-5039 for a free second opinion on any written estimate you have received, no strings attached.
Our PGT Service Process - Step by Step
- 1
Diagnosis. A technician walks the window or door, checks the operation, measures the sash alignment, and identifies the failure point. For PGT products, that means checking the wool-pile weatherstrip, the roller assemblies, the hinge arms, and the glass pack seal, in that order.
- 2
Repair or replace recommendation. We tell you what failed, why it failed, and what the honest fix costs. If it is a repair, we quote parts and labor. If it is a replacement, we quote the exact PGT model or series and walk through Miami-Dade NOA compliance details.
- 3
Repair or installation. For repairs, we use OEM PGT parts for structural and life-safety components. For replacements, we pull permits when required, install to current Miami-Dade impact code, and handle any condo association paperwork if you are in Brickell or Edgewater.
- 4
Testing. Every repaired or replaced window gets a full operation test: open, close, lock, seal check, and track alignment.
- 5
Warranty. The 36500-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship. If it is not done right, we make it right, period.
PGT Products We Service & Install in Miami
We service and install the PGT lines most common in Miami-Dade homes:
- PGT WinGuard Aluminum Impact. The most widely installed hurricane-impact window in South Florida. Aluminum frames hold up well in Miami’s salt air, though roller assemblies and corner seals need periodic service.
- PGT WinGuard Vinyl Impact. Vinyl frames insulate better than aluminum, but sashes can warp under prolonged Miami sun if the installation left no expansion room or the window faces due west.
- PGT SpectraGuard Vinyl. PGT’s premium non-impact vinyl line, popular in inland Miami neighborhoods where impact code is not required but energy efficiency matters.
- PGT PremierVue. The non-impact aluminum line, often found on older Miami homes that have not yet been retrofitted for hurricane code.
We Also Service These Brands
PGT is not the only brand we know inside and out. We install and service CGI, CWS, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems as well, so if your Miami home has a mix of brands, or if you are comparing PGT against a competitor for a replacement, we can give you a straight answer without dealer bias. The one down the road.
FAQs - PGT Windows & Doors Service in Miami
That grinding is almost always a failed roller assembly. Miami’s salt air corrodes the stainless roller axles over time, and once the bearings start to disintegrate, the nylon wheel rides directly on the axle and drags metal-on-metal in the track. The fix is pulling the sash and replacing both rollers, which we do with OEM PGT stainless assemblies. Call (863) 946-5039 and we will diagnose it during a service visit.
Yes, as long as the frame and sash are still sound. A fogged or cracked glass pack can be swapped out while keeping the existing PGT frame and hardware, which saves you a lot of money versus a full replacement. If the sash itself is warped or the frame has corrosion damage, a glass-only replacement would not be worth doing, and we will tell you that plainly. Call (863) 946-5039 for a free estimate on either option.
Often yes. A drooping casement sash is usually a hinge-arm or pivot issue, not a frame failure. We can replace the hinge arms, re-square the sash, and realign it so it closes flush again. If the sash profile has actually warped from prolonged sun, that is a different story. Vinyl sashes on PGT casements, particularly on west-facing elevations in Miami, can distort permanently after years of afternoon heat. We will tell you which one you are dealing with after a diagnosis.
Water in the track with no rain is usually condensation, not a leak. Miami’s humidity means warm, moist air hits the cooler aluminum track in an air-conditioned house, and the moisture condenses right in the channel. The track weeps are probably doing their job, but clogged weeps can make pooling worse. A leak from an actual breach shows up differently: water spreads beyond the track, the wall or floor below gets damp, and it appears during or right after rain. We can tell the difference during a service visit.
Impact ratings do not expire, but the hardware and seals that keep the window performing to that rating can degrade. The wool-pile weatherstrip dries out, roller assemblies corrode, and glazing seals fail over time. If a window will not close flush or lock properly, it is not performing to its DP rating regardless of the glass certification. A 30-minute inspection tells you what needs service and what is still solid. Call (863) 946-5039 to schedule one.
We service both. High-rise work in Brickell, Edgewater, and downtown Miami often involves condo association approvals, building permits, and high-floor wind-pressure requirements that call for specialized large-format impact glazing. We handle the paperwork and the installation. Single-family CBS homes in Pgt in Miami Beach, Little Havana, Kendall, and Liberty City are our everyday work. Call (863) 946-5039 and tell us what you are dealing with.
